Every one of them has died. Found first two dead a day later, one a day after that, then another one a day after that. I am confused and distraught. This is her third litter and the only litter where all of the pug puppies died. Can anyone tell me some reasons for their death? I am guessing they were born early, since they were all pretty small. But, pug puppies are small anyways. I have no clue to what went wrong.
I am sorry for you and those little puppies. But you are "guessing" they were born early? Did you not record when you breed the bi***?
That would have told you if they were premature. and better yet when you should have expected the litter initially so you would be prepared for it. Did you take them to the vet at all to be checked especially if they were preemies?
The best thing for you to do is have her spayed now 3 litters is enough. I am sure she needs rest and A lot of TLC also.

Did you bother taking them in for a post whelp check up? You should know if they were premature or not since a responsible breeder and owner keeps tracks of these things. Did you go to the vet after the first two died?
Could have been any number of things.
If they were born early they would have no hair on them, and look almost translucent.
Your puppies could of died from fading puppy syndrome. It could be something else but you just will never know. Unfortunately it comes with breeding and is always so sad and hard to deal with.
And taking them to the vet would of made no difference. It doesn’t sound like they were preemies.

sometimes puppies just die and no one figures out why. it could be that they had a congenital defect that didnt allow them to live. maybe they werent nursing properly. any number of things could have gone wrong. maybe its time to get her spayed.

maybe the mother was sick or had something wrong with her pregnancy. Or maybe the puppies were sick. Or mother got into something toxic without you knowing and it got in her system. Yea, just like humans its pretty risky when babies are born very early. Did you notice she was smaller during this pregnancy or that something wasn’t right? Did you know when she got pregnant so you would know how early she had them? I’m guessing this litter was different from the previous litter, were her puppies from the last litter bigger when they were born?
I’m so sorry to hear that. Me looking at it as in half the glass full, at least they didn’t pass away as older puppies to where you are very attatched to them.
Either way, I am sure this was very devistating that they all died. Something wasn’t right with her or the puppies.
Did you take her to the vet when she was pregnant to monitor her pregnancy? You should take her now for an exam to make sure she is ok so she doesn’t have the same happen to her.

Pug pups are high maintenance, many things can go wrong, you need to keep watch of the mother too, she might accidentally roll on them or some might get a better feed than others if some are more pushy than others. Sometimes one moves too far from the other pups and gets cold and dies. Sometimes they are born with defects that result in them dying.
Did your vet do a postmortem?
Having puppies is not as Easy as some people believe and there is such a thing as ‘fading puppy” syndrome where pups who are full term die for no apparent reason.
The ONLY way you could have found out what went wrong if anything was to have at least 2 autopsied and that is not cheap but if you are a Breeder than you would have done this to prove exactly what went wrong.
Yes pug pups are very small Wren born but if you did your calculations of 63 days and they were born before day 52 they would not have stood much of a chance as they would have been too weak to be able to suckle.Did Mother try and feed them at all,did she have milk and did you put the babies on Mum’s teats to makes sure they were suckling.
Last point even old time Breeders take the new Born’s and Mum to Vet to have her cleaned out although most do that themselves but they have all the pups checked as well s there are so many things that could have gone wrong,they could have had what is called a cleft palette where they cannot eat or drink and would have died or being put down or they may have had internal parasites or not being fully formed.
No-one on this site can give you a correct answer as we have insufficient information as to your experience or exactly if they were full term or what really happened at birth.we cannot make stabs in the dark and can only indicate to you the possibilities of what COULD have been the cause.
Sometimes it is not meant to be and you have done no wrong at all and l am sure you are blaming yourself at present so you need to stop this and chalk it up to experience and move on and perhaps next time you have a litter you make sure you have all the things avail,take Mum and pups to Vet when it is necessary for a full checkup and hopefully have a healthy litter next time.

you do know how long your dog was pregnant right? Did you even bother to take her to the vet to find out exactly when her due date was? If you can’t do that or take her and the pups to the vet to get checked the day after she delivered that’s could explain it. Get her spayed and you won’t have to worry about this ever happening again.
Lots of reasons it could be.
But #1 reason is you don’t have a clue as to what you are doing. If you were breeding responsibly, you’d be in that whelping box for the first 3 weeks. You’d be weighing the pups twice a day, listening to their lungs, feeling their muscle tone. You’d have IV fluids nearby and know how to rehydrate a pup. You’d have a humidifier with them. You’d have a reproductive vet on call if a pup isn’t gaining weight. You’d have STAT on hand for pups losing weight.
Pups can die quickly. If they get even a little tummy bug they can quickly dehydrate and die. A simple $5 bag of IV fluid can save their lives.
Fading puppy is a description of what happens, it’s causes can be many. But I’ve found pups who fade can be quickly brought back with stat and rehydration. It all depends on YOU knowing what to do.
Don’t do this again. Get a mentor, learn about how to handle litters, take seminars from reproductive vets and don’t let this happen again.
