yes that is possible. since the fathers dad was pure black it is close in the blood line. good luck. I have a black female pug that I breeded with my silver male pug and they had 5 pure black puppies that were all boys. My male has no black in his family, black just dominates the genes.

It’s all in what the sire and dam carry. Black is a dominant gene, and the grandfather of the pups was black, so the sire carries black. I hope both parents are titled though.. would hate to see ANOTHER back yard pug breeder.

I am reading your post, and something doesn’t make sense here. Yeah, black is dominant, but if it were dominant, the mom or the dad would have been black. Did your female AT ANY CHANCE have an oppertunity to mate with another dog, such as a black male pug? Did you drop her off at the male’s home and let the male mate her to his dog? If the "grandfather" happened to mate with her at any point, that is where the black pugs came from. Sounds like a male other than the intended sire got hold of your female.

I don’t know what leads to white patches in pugs. I only concentrated on looking up the pug coat color in general.

A backyard breeder is someone who is not mating dogs to better the breed. They just throw two dogs together to get cute wittle puppies without doing proper research or taking proper care during breeding. Often, backyard breeders are just in it for the money.
